Understand the policy

Ask what is covered—and what is excluded.

A medical tourism or complication policy is a separate contract with its insurer. Coverage, eligibility, exclusions, limits and claim rules depend on the current policy. Do not assume that a surgery package includes this protection.

Before purchasing

Review these points with the insurer.

  • Whether your exact procedure, surgeon and destination qualify
  • Which complications and additional care are covered
  • Exclusions, waiting periods and pre-existing condition rules
  • Coverage limits, deductibles and payment arrangements
  • Whether extra travel or accommodation costs are covered
  • How to obtain assistance and submit a claim
Existing insurance resource

Review current options with the provider.

The website’s existing insurance link is provided below. Bariatric Mexico does not issue the policy; obtain the current policy wording and answers directly from the provider.
